Jump and touch the moon

Times are getting rougher. The war continues and the casualty list grows a little more each day. Unfortunately, those casualties are getting marked by “friendly fire” or should I say “not so friendly fire”?? But the worst part is for those who don’t even get the chance to join ranks. When they come to learn and enlist, all they see is confusion, bickering, backbiting and chaos among those who are supposed to be the elite…
Brothers and sisters we are fighting a war, but at times I have to question if we even remember who and what we are fighting against and more important, what we are supposed to be fighting for?
We have been saved by grace, not by our own perfection. If we were perfect we would not need God. We would not need the fellowship of one another. We are flawed. We stumble. But the key is to get back up and continue seeking the grace and mercy of God. It is difficult enough to live in this world, looked upon as hypocrites and persecuted by those on the outside. But it saddens me when we turn to our own only to be judged.
Remember this; “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are ‘”spiritual”  restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourselves lest you also be tempted. (Galatians 6:1)  Restore, NOT beat down. It is our responsibility to teach one another and to spread the word of God to the lost. and I have to question far too often, are we the ones lost? Are we standing in the darkness and unaware of it?? Are we pushing and scaring away the new recruits with the confusion they see within our own ranks? God forbid
We have a zeal and desire to serve God, but are we taking it just one step to far and attacking Gods own?
This war we fight is not about who’s helmet of salvation is the shiniest, who’s shield is larger, breast plate is thicker and who’s sword is sharper. this is NOT ABOUT WHO IS MORE CHRISTIAN than the next man. We ALL COME short of His glory.
OK. What if God simplified matters and reduced the Bible to one command; “thou MUST jump so high that you touch the moon. No need to follow Jesus, pray or love thy neighbor. Just touch the moon with a jump and be saved.” WE would NEVER make it. Might be some of us who would jump 3-4 feet. even less who would jump 5 or 6. But compared to the distance we NEED to go, NO ONE gets to far. So though you may jump a foot higher then me, there is still no reason to boast. Who can jump 6 feet and look at the one who jumps 6 inches and say ‘what a lousy jump’ ? Compared to the distance left, who can accuse? Why judge another persons weakness when in the eyes of the one WHO MATTERS – GOD – we ALL fall short?
There are so many directions and scriptures that can be used to support this writing, but i will leave it here. My brothers and sisters, PLEASE, I pray, enough is enough. we need to make the devils work harder for him, not add to his joy by making it easier. Love one another, discern with a righteous discernment. Who are we to judge another mans servant, it is up to him who stands and falls. It is Christ who lives in us, allow Him to lead. we are flawed.

Your message is right on. We are all in an uproar about something but who really knows the reason? It reminds me ofthe verse in Acts 19:23-32 when there was a riot in Ephesus. The false “godmakers” were angry at Paul and his disciples for their teachings on Christ. This hurt these guys in their pocketbook as sales of man-made gods went down. They roused the crowd against Paul and seized Gaius and Aristarchus. In verse 32 it reads,
“The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there”.

Is that not a picture of our country today? Everyone is demanding his or her right to something but at the base of it all there is nothing but the symbolic mad-made false god of pride.

America started out as a Christian nation. Now we are weakened as this nation implodes as we fight one another and not the real enemy. If Satan can blind us to the truth, he can further his kingdom of darkness.

You are right , Lorenzo, when you say that if we compared ourselves to Christ, we would fall short. Unfortunately, we then start comparing ourselves and our ideas to others. The fact is we are ALL short of the glory so what is there to compare? As the fools did in Acts 19, most people don’t even know why they are fighting.

    Keep up the good work.

  2. I think you are right on . . . we aren’t to compare, compete and beat each other up . . . In the past, out of frustration I have beaten down others when I have done the same thing and was immediately convicted by the Holy Spirit. None of us are perfect and it isn’t about that. It isn’t about our goodness, we don’t have any, but that is what most of Christianity has become – if we truly got that then we wouldn’t compare, compete and beat up, backbite, and so on.

But I believe we are to exhort one another in love and not be afraid of appearing self-righteous, but expect the same from others. It isn’t about following the rules or being better, or good it is about love. God’s way brings life, if we see others doing something counter we need to tell them with the motive of love.

Thanks for sharing. It needed to be said.
